Frequently asked questions:

Are courses open only to members of certain churches or denominations?
Absolutely not! We understand that attending Foundations in person may be challenging for those involved in other churches. That’s why Foundations is also offered online! In 2025, the Certificate Program will take place on Monday evenings, welcoming Christians from diverse churches and backgrounds.
Are payment plans available?
We’ve split registration for the certificate program into two separate semesters to lessen any potential financial strain. The 1st semester (spring) is $200, while the 2nd semester (fall) is $250. Additionally, at checkout, you can choose “other payment options” to checkout with Klarna’s pay-in-4 option.
Who teaches the courses?
Meet Pastor Bunni Baker - Lover of Jesus and the Church, wife, special needs mom, Bible college graduate, ordained discipleship pastor at Revivify Church, teacher, writer, and founder of Kairos School of Biblical Literacy.
“My love for Jesus has driven me to research, write and teach. My entire life is shaped and fueled by these verses:
‘My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’
- Colossians 2:2-3
I have been a youth pastor, young adults pastor, children’s church teacher, women’s pastor, Sunday school teacher, small group leader, etc and no matter what role I was placed in, my passion as a minister is discipleship, stirring up a passion in my students for the Bible. I love walking with and training people into deep truths of God’s Word.
“I teach them how to let the Bible do its job as the transformational Sword of the Spirit, rather than trying to be a motivational speaker.
“My heart is to help pastors, leaders, and students see that Jesus-centered Biblical Literacy is actually the fuel that will drive Christians further along in their process of sanctification. I know with all my heart that in Christ, all treasures of wisdom and knowledge are truly hidden.”
Bunni and her husband, Josh, have been married for 18 years and have 2 daughters.
She is a special needs mom and also has a passion for parents walking through tough medical journeys.
She is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training College in 2006, and has been strongly influenced by scholars like NT Wright, Dr. Tim Mackie and the Bible Project, Dr. Michael Heiser, Scot McKnight, and Dr. Joshua McNall among others.
Is Kairos School of Biblical Literacy accredited?
At this time, we are not accredited.
What is the difference between the Christian Foundations and Kairos Certificate Program?
Kairos Foundations (Christian Foundations) is a 6-week long course designed to set the foundation for growth in biblical literacy by grounding you in the teachings of Jesus and core tenants of ancient Christianity.
The Certificate Program is a year-long structured learning path that helps you deepen your understanding of the Bible and develop a solid foundation in Christian doctrine. There are required textbooks with weekly reading assignments and homework. In 2025, this program will be held on Monday evenings and while we are working on providing an online option, it is currently only available in-person.

Kairos Foundations must be completed before beginning the Certificate Program.
Do I Have to Attend Class in Person?
While we offer in-person classes, we also have online options available for those who may not be able to attend in person. This allows greater flexibility and accessibility, so you can learn from anywhere! However, please be aware that our online classes are simplified and compressed in comparison to our in-person courses.
How do I choose between in-person and online courses?
Our in-person courses provide numerous advantages that are not available through our digital lecture packages:
  • Two BONUS discussion-based classes: ‘Symbolism of Jesus in the Tabernacle/Temple’ and ‘Symbolism of Jesus in the Jewish Festivals’
  • Exclusive access to a biblically literate Messianic Passover Dinner during Holy Week
  • Cost-effective options (almost a 50% discount compared to digital content!)
  • The chance to develop community and friendships with other like-minded Christians in your area
You may want to consider participating in our in-person courses if you:
  • Are local to Augusta, GA
  • Desire deeper study content, individualized feedback, and class discussion
  • Want to earn a certificate of completion at the end of your studies
Is childcare provided?
Yes! Childcare is always free for Kairos Foundations. For the Certificate Program, childcare is available at an additional cost of less than $10/class/child. Additional children in the same family are only $60/semester. For childcare for one semester for one child, the cost would be $120. For one semester for two children the cost would be $180, and so on.

Old Testament Track
Roots of the Story

The Old Testament track lays the groundwork for everything that follows in the New. By immersing ourselves in Israel’s story, law, symbols, and hopes, we begin to see how God was preparing His people for the Messiah. From the Garden to the exile, from the Temple to the feasts, every page anticipates Jesus. These classes give students the cultural, theological, and narrative foundations that make the Gospel shine in full color.

See how every thread of Israel’s story leads to Jesus.

New Testament Track
The King and His Kingdom

The New Testament track reveals Jesus as the true fulfillment of Israel’s story. In these classes, we step into the world of first-century Judaism under Rome, encounter Jesus’ teachings and actions in context, and explore how His death and resurrection launched a new creation. Students will see how the Great Commission continues that mission through the Body of Christ today.

Meet the King who fulfills Israel’s story and launches new creation.
1. Orientation Class - Hearing from God - February 9, 2026
This opening session orients students to the heart of Kairos: learning to hear God’s voice through His Word and Spirit. Together, we will reflect on what it means to be attentive disciples, set expectations for the journey ahead, and invite the Holy Spirit to shape our minds and hearts as we enter into deeper study.

Before we open the Bible, we open our ears—study begins in relationship.
2. Introduction to Biblical Tools of Study - February 16, 2026
This class equips students with essential tools for studying Scripture. We will explore the Strong’s numbering system, practice using concordances and commentaries, and work with two major online study websites. Students will also be introduced to study methods such as character studies, word studies, topical studies, and full book overviews.

Learn the tools. Love the text. Study with confidence.
3. Foundational Context of the Bible — Pt. 1: Timeline of Ancient Israel - February 23, 2026
We begin tracing Israel’s story from Eden to the rise of kings: Abraham and Sarah, slavery in Egypt, the Exodus and giving of the Law, the Promised Land, the Judges, and the monarchy. These events form the background that gives clarity to the words and actions of Jesus.

From Eden to David—Israel’s story sets the stage for Jesus.
4. Foundational Context of the Bible — Pt. 2: Timeline of Ancient Israel - March 2, 2026
Continuing Israel’s story, we’ll study the divided kingdom, the Babylonian exile, the rebuilding under Ezra and Nehemiah, and the Jewish struggle for freedom in the Maccabean and Hasmonean eras. This history creates the world into which Jesus was born.

Exile, return, and revolt—the world the Messiah stepped into.
5. Mosaic Law and Culture — Pt. 1 - March 9, 2026
We will explore the covenant God made with Israel at Sinai and the ceremonial laws that shaped their identity. Topics include clean and unclean rules, the sacrificial system, the priesthood, and God’s holiness. These laws set Israel apart from surrounding nations.

Holiness, sacrifice, presence—why Israel worshiped the way it did.
6. Mosaic Law and Culture — Pt. 2 - March 16, 2026
Building on part one, this class unpacks the theological purposes of the Law: forming Israel into a holy people, exposing humanity’s need for atonement, and preparing the way for the Messiah. Students will see how the Law points forward to Jesus.

The Law wasn’t arbitrary—it was a roadmap to Jesus.
7. Symbols of Jesus in the Tabernacle and Temple - March 23, 2026
From the outer gate to the Ark of the Covenant, every element of the Tabernacle and Temple foreshadows Jesus. This class explores how God’s design revealed His plan to dwell with His people and prepared them to recognize the Messiah.

Every lamp, loaf, and curtain was whispering “Messiah.”
8. Symbols of Jesus in the Biblical Feasts - March 30, 2026
We will study the seven feasts of Leviticus 23, exploring how God placed them across Israel’s year as a living prophecy of Jesus’ work. We’ll connect them to New Testament events and their ongoing meaning for the church.
Special Note: Each spring we host a Messianic Passover Dinner the same week as this class to reenact the Last Supper. (April 2, 2026)

God taught Israel the Gospel on a calendar.
9. Jewish Ideas About the Messiah - April 13, 2026
This class surveys the messianic hopes woven through Israel’s Scriptures. We’ll trace types and shadows of Jesus in figures like Joseph and David, and study key prophecies in Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel, and Zechariah.

Hope sharpened over centuries—fulfilled in one King.
10. Jesus in 1st-Century Israel — Pt. 1 - April 20, 2026
We’ll explore the culture Jesus was born into: the legacy of the Maccabees, Hellenistic influence, Roman oppression, and the distinct beliefs of Pharisees, Sadducees, and Essenes. We’ll also glimpse daily life for common laborers, tax collectors, zealots, and the marginalized.

Meet the people, pressures, and powers of Jesus’ world.
11. Jesus in 1st-Century Israel — Pt. 2 - April 27, 2026
Going deeper into first-century tensions, we’ll look at how Roman taxation, foreign rule, and fractured Jewish identity shaped the people’s longing for a deliverer. Students will see why Jesus’ ministry was both explosive and unexpected.

Why Jesus’ message felt like lightning in a storm.
1. We Are the Body - August 3, 2026
The Church is not an audience—it is the living, breathing Body of Jesus on earth. We have not only been forgiven and justified, but glorification awaits us, and until that day, we are called to work. The Resurrection is not just an event—it is our new identity, our mission, and our worldview. Every act of obedience becomes part of the Kingdom that cannot be shaken.

The Resurrection is our identity, our mission, and our future.
2. The Testing of Jesus in the Wilderness - August 10, 2026
The temptations in the wilderness were strategic, mission-specific tests aimed at the core of Jesus’ calling as Second Adam and True Israel. They were not random trials but personalized schemes designed to derail His mission before it began. By trusting the Father’s provision, submitting to His plan, and refusing to take kingship apart from the cross, Jesus succeeded where Adam and Israel failed—securing the pattern for His followers to resist temptation through reliance on God’s Word and obedience to His will.

Jesus overcame where Adam and Israel failed, showing us the way of obedience.
3. The Gospel of the Kingdom — Part 1- August 17, 2026
The Gospel of the Kingdom is not merely about forgiveness of sin or a future heaven—it is the announcement that God’s reign has broken into history through Jesus. This Good News covers sin and transforms human nature so that God’s original plan for creation can be restored.

The Kingdom has broken into history—restoring creation through Jesus.
4. The Gospel of the Kingdom — Part 2 - August 24, 2026
The Gospel of the Kingdom is not about escaping earth for a cloudy afterlife. Jesus announces the Father’s reign coming to earth and forms a new kind of humanity by the Spirit—the New Adam’s family. In Him, sin’s power is broken, creation’s renewal begins, and the Sermon on the Mount becomes Good News heard only through repentance.

Jesus forms a new humanity to live under the Father’s reign.
5. The Sermon on the Mount — Part 1 - August 31, 2026
Jesus is the True Human—the Last Adam—whose teachings reveal an upside-down Kingdom that runs against fallen instincts. His life reshapes human nature, trains us for real spiritual warfare, and reorders our motives under the Father’s reign. The Sermon on the Mount is the doorway into this radical reversal.

The Sermon on the Mount is the doorway into the upside-down Kingdom.
6. The Sermon on the Mount — Part 2 - September 14, 2026
Real righteousness is not external rule-keeping but Spirit-empowered transformation of the heart. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus fulfills Torah by unveiling its true intent—addressing motives, desires, and instincts—so Kingdom people become truly human again, imaging God from the inside out. This produces a hidden life “before the Father” and visible fruit that renews creation.

Jesus transforms the heart so Kingdom people reflect God from the inside out.
7. The Sermon on the Mount — Part 3 - September 21, 2026
Continuing the Sermon on the Mount, we see that the Kingdom life Jesus describes is hidden and holistic. It shapes secret prayer, quiet generosity, and deep trust in the Father’s care. True discipleship is not public performance but a Spirit-shaped life that overflows into visible love, mercy, and justice.

Kingdom life is hidden with the Father and revealed through love in action.
8. I AM: Light, Resurrection & Life, and Living Bread - September 28, 2026
In John’s Gospel, Jesus names His own identity—Light of the World, Resurrection and Life, and the Living Bread. Each title reveals who He is and how He relates to His people: the true Light who exposes lies and gives understanding; the Resurrection who launches new-creation life; and the Bread who sustains His followers with His very life. Each claim draws from Israel’s story—creation light, manna, temple worship, prophetic hope—and shows how Jesus fulfills them.

Light, Life, Bread—Jesus names Himself as the world’s true sustainer.
9. I AM: True Vine, Good Shepherd, and Gate - October 5, 2026
Jesus reveals His identity through three interwoven titles: the True Vine, the Good Shepherd, and the Gate. Drawing from Israel’s Scriptures (the failed vineyard, Ezekiel’s shepherd promises, and shepherd-king language of David), Jesus shows that life with God now flows from Him. Abiding in the Vine produces fruit; hearing the Shepherd forms a people who know His voice; entering the Gate gives access to the Father’s presence. Together, these claims embody “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”

Jesus is the Vine, Shepherd, and Gate—our source, guide, and way home.
10. Atonement — Recapitulation & Penal Substitution - October 12, 2026
How does the cross “work”? This session introduces atonement by focusing on two anchor models—Recapitulation and Penal Substitution—and shows how they harmonize. In Recapitulation, Jesus (the New Adam) faithfully re-lives and sums up humanity’s story, becoming the new Head whose life, death, and resurrection form a new pattern for His people. In Penal Substitution (rightly understood), God in Christ bears sin’s judgment in His own body, condemning sin and opening the way for forgiveness, cleansing, and new life in the Spirit. Together, these truths ground our identity “in Christ” and call us into Spirit-led obedience.

The cross re-lives our story and removes our guilt—uniting us to Jesus.
11. Atonement — Christus Victor & Moral Influence - October 19, 2026
How does Jesus’ victory on the cross and in the resurrection reshape the world? This class explores Christus Victor—Christ conquering Satan, sin, death, and the powers—and Moral Influence—the Spirit applying that victory by transforming Christ’s people. We will trace the Bible’s cosmic storyline, see why the victory unfolds in stages (“already/not yet”), and discover how the Church, as Christ’s Body, participates in God’s ongoing triumph for the sake of the nations.

Jesus conquers the powers—and His Spirit trains us to walk in victory.
12. The New Creation - October 26, 2026
What is the ultimate Christian hope? Not escape to heaven, but the renewal of all creation. This class explores resurrection, glorification, and the biblical vision of the new heavens and new earth. We’ll contrast this hope with Platonism and modern misconceptions, clarify the difference between present paradise and future resurrection, and see how creation itself will be liberated when Jesus returns. Our future vocation echoes our first calling: to reign with Christ as God’s image-bearers, stewarding His renewed world until God is “all in all.”

Christian hope is not escape, but resurrection and a renewed creation.
13. The Great Commission - November 2, 2026
The Great Commission is not the Church’s starting point—it is our ongoing destiny. For 2,000 years, Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples” has transformed societies, birthed compassion, and redefined human dignity. This class explores the world-shaping power of the Gospel, showing how Christian values—equality, care for the weak, protection of children, charity—emerged from the mission of Jesus. We will also see how the Commission flows directly into the hope of new creation, where Spirit-empowered works today are seeds of the world God is making new. Students will discover how early Christians shocked Roman culture with their vision of one God, one Body, one Lord—and how our mission continues that revolution.

The Great Commission is not just our mission—it’s our destiny.
Graduation for this cycle will be held on December 7, 2026.
